There are several different types of rhinoplasty: You can:
- Reshape the nose for cosmetic purposes
- Undergo internal nasal surgery to provide healthy breathing
But if you looked into having any type of nasal surgery, you probably are aware it can be a costly procedure.
According to the most recent statistics, the average surgeon fee for rhinoplasty in the United States is $4300. Additional fees include:
- A charge for the anesthesiologist, the doctor who handles your breathing while under general anesthesia
- A charge for the operating room
- Medicines, pre-surgery medical checks and other incidentals
Always ask your surgeon for total costs of plastic surgery, includingrhinoplasty.
While you don’t want a bargain basement nose job, you can save money among fully qualified cosmetic plastic surgeons by asking for some typical discounts. If you are sensitive to costs, keep in mind it may cost three to five times the amount you paid for a cheap surgery to repair the damage, if any, that a lesser or unqualified surgeon may create.Revision surgery is very expensive and difficult so you want to make sure your nose job is right, the first time.
So make sure you shop nose jobs among board-certified plastic surgeons with at least ten years’ experience and those whodo nose surgery at least twice weekly. Also check for at least many dozens, if not hundreds, of rhinoplasty before and after pictures.
- Pay in cash and ask for a three percent discount
Credit card companies charge your surgeon three to five percent when you use a credit card. Paying cash or writing a check saves him that fee.
- Ask for stand-by surgery
Surgical cancellations happen every day. But the operating room staff must be paid nonetheless. If your schedule allows you to have surgery with, say, five days’ notice, you can ask for a 20 percent discount. It’s good for the surgeon for the same reason that airlines will charge lower fees for some seats to keep all seats filled.
- Ask about the surgeon’s slowest time of year
January is relatively slow for almost all cosmetic plastic surgery as the general public marshals its forces for the tax man in April. So you can ask for another 20 percent discount on your nasal surgery if you can arrange to have surgery during your doctor’s slowest time.
- Look for clinical trials
All types of plastic surgeons as well as nose surgery specialists are always collecting data so they can write original reports on various types of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery for professional journals. In fact, some plastic surgeons take in beginning surgeons to handle all the details of preparing and writing articles. In return, the younger surgeron works at the side of the more experienced surgeon in an arrangement known as a fellowship.
If your cosmetic or functional nose surgery fits into a clinical trial, you may be able to ask for and corner a 30 percent discount.

I was in the SAME exact boat as you are, and it was horrible. I had a huge bump in the mdlide of my nose, too, and also heard that I was really pretty except for my nose. I was super self-conscious, to the point I didn’t know if I could walk across the stage at graduation because of it! So, I was 17 (I’m a girl, by the way) when I got Rhinoplasty, and I will tell you straight up it is the absolute BEST decision I’ve EVER made in my life!! I have gotten soo many compliments on how cute my nose is from people who never even knew I had it done! It’s an amazing feeling!I think it’s a wonderful idea, honestly, but only if YOU (and only you) want it (which obviously that’s the case). It’s also a great idea that you are wanting to do it before college starts, because college is a Fresh Start anyway, so this just makes it better. You will, literally, be amazed at how much your self-confidence will soar!! Just beeeeeeee sure you do a lot of research on the plastic surgeon you choose. When I chose one, I went for a visit and he inspected my nose and took side pictures (I was literally embarrassed when I saw it on the moniter!), but then they show you a picture of what your nose WILL look like after the surgery, and that was SO exciting! I also found out that I had a Deviated Septum, which insurance paid for, so out of pocket, I only had to pay about roughly $ 3,000.The healing process for me went smooth as ever! Depending on the surgeon you choose (and how much money you wanna pay), after your surgery, they’ll have a hotel room set up near the hospital and you’ll have a sitter stay. This person is educated on exactly how to remove the bandages, etc. You’ll have to wear this little nose protector for a while when it’s healing, and that was the only hard part because you’ll be surprised at how paranoid you’ll be because the doctor literally goes in and breaks your nose, so you will be scared something will hit it during the healing process.Once you get the brace-thing off, you’ll have pretty big bruises under your eyes for WEEKS. I had to go back to school with these and everyone thought I had lost a fight, haha. Anyway, I know you didn’t ask for THIS much detail so I’ll stop. BUT if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me because I’m sure I can answer most of your questions from experience
